Who said if I have a Prime Metrics I have had it all?

Now that I have half-listened, slept and crawled to grab my 2 credits at MIS, thought I should do a little more than coming up with gibberish indicators with fancy names.

If I were to chart out a strategic plan, an effective one and I stick to it die hard, without even realizing some of my objectives are changing ("business objective do change") then my PMO is as good a goner. It is good that one needs to clearly define ones scope of project but one should also realize by abolishing a beauracracy with a well to do structure that drives accountability and results you are drving business resuls..PHEW...Just because you can count the bars (call it control or process monitoring..whatever) you think you have caged the sytem..Sorry dude..look again you are inside the cage. The drive for result should also be towards overall strategic alignment aiding cross program decisions..

What essentially such Business value(less) Model do? it stifles evolution of your model... Ppl speak of dynamis everywhere, it sounds cool..yup..but you frame a BVM to crucify the underlying dynamics..think again.

I could observe that all theories try to look at the dyanmics of the system and the BVM separately as two distinct entities. The closest one can get to understanding the interplay would be the DSS. Enough of system delivering data..i need/want Information...Hmm..No!.. Transfer me the knowledge instead and I will take the decision..er..If your DSS can give you the knowledge then why do I need an 'I'? DSS will then be DS then...hmm..

A DSS can only be a DSS and can never be a DS..And whatever BVM one gets through on the principle of PMO will need to take note that if they dont move from Project Management towards Result Management Office (RMO), they will be very disciplined and effective in executing the archaic strategy while not driving the business results...

Its necessary that you have a well charted strategy but also remember that there are others who are laying different roads and you may have to re-model your road map to get you where you really want (But do you know where you wanna head? ..that can be a separate blog :P )
